No, and it is worth understanding why before you buy. The obstacle is not reading the field but acting on it: a Microsoft-certified visual is not permitted to make external network calls, so a link in your model could never be fetched and drawn. Images therefore travel inside the specification itself. In exchange the report renders identically offline, in Power BI Service and in an exported PDF, with no broken images and nothing leaving your tenant.

Up to twelve, though the practical limit is size rather than count. Because every picture is embedded, the specification grows with each one you add. Images are resized and re-encoded in your browser before they are embedded, and the page keeps a running total of the resulting size in view so you can see when a set is becoming awkward to paste.

Not unless you ask for it. The default is Fit, which shows each picture whole inside its frame and leaves the spare space empty, so nothing is squashed. Fill crops to the frame instead when you want an even edge-to-edge look, and Stretch — the one that distorts — is only worth choosing when every picture really is the same shape.

Yes. Set the zoom to be reader-controlled and the published visual gains plus, minus and reset buttons, responds to the scroll wheel, and lets somebody drag the picture around once they have zoomed past its frame. Nothing about the report changes; it is theirs for as long as they are looking.

Yes — a carousel with Advance automatically turned on is a slideshow, and you choose how long each picture is held. It pauses whenever the pointer is over the visual and picks up again when it leaves, because being carried off a picture mid-read is the single most irritating thing an automatic carousel can do.

Yes. The background colour, padding and corner radius are all yours to set, so the visual can be made to sit on a dark page or a light one without a mismatched panel around your pictures.
